During September 26-30, 2022, representatives of the 175 member states of the IAEA will discuss a number of important topics, from the annual report for 2021 and the budget for 2023 to the prospects for intensifying activities related to nuclear science and technology, as well as the Agency’s activities in the field of nuclear and physical security.
An important topic on the agenda of the event was russian aggression, the occupation of Ukrainian nuclear facilities and threats to Ukraine’s nuclear and radiation safety.
During the Conference in at. Head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, Oleg Korikov, called on the world community to stop nuclear terrorism by the russian federation. “Dear colleagues, I urge you not to be indifferent and not to expect that your countries will avoid the consequences of a possible nuclear accident, and to use all your leverage to stop the occupying country, which seized Ukrainian nuclear facilities, in its terrorist activities,” – said Mr. Korikov.
This year, for the second time, Ukraine will present its stand at the IAEA General Conference with the participation of delegates from SE “NAEK Energoatom”. It first took place in 2018 as part of the 62nd General Conference of the IAEA with the participation of representatives of the structure of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management.
