Women in Nuclear Ukraine is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Vice President, Nadiia Chyzhyk, an expert in public policy on radioactive waste management.
Nadiia Chyzhyk serves as Deputy Head of the Department for State Policy in Radioactive Waste Management at the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management (SAUEZM). Her primary objective is to ensure the safe management of radioactive waste, minimise the impact of radiation on people and the environment, and uphold the highest standards in this critically important field.
Nadiia played a direct role in the development and coordination of the Draft Law of Ukraine “On the National Target Environmental Programme for Radioactive Waste Management”, which aims to establish an effective radioactive waste management system covering all stages of the waste lifecycle while minimising risks to the environment and public health.
She has extensive international cooperation experience, having represented Ukraine at numerous International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) technical meetings, completed an internship at the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment, and coordinated international projects in cooperation with the United States Department of Energy.
Nadiia Chyzhyk graduated from Sevastopol National University of Nuclear Energy and Industry with a degree in Environmental Science and has continued to develop her professional career in the field of safe radioactive waste management.
