We are pleased to share the incredible outcome of a joint project supported by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM) as part of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Women in Nuclear Ukraine (WiN Ukraine) and the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management.
The project focused on enhancing the certification program of the Ukrainian Radiological Training Centre (URTC), a key institution in training national personnel in radiation safety since its founding in 1993. URTC plays a vital role in the professional development and certification of licensed specialists working with ionizing radiation sources and professionals in radioactive waste management.
In the first phase of the project, the outdated curriculum — which had been in use for over 30 years — was completely revised. The updated program is now aligned with current legislation and modern regulatory standards, ensuring that professionals have access to up-to-date training content that reflects the latest developments.
Additionally, the modernization included linguistic adaptation (transition from Russian to Ukrainian) and the development of a modern, user-friendly interface for the training module.
Thanks to this improved, accessible, and modern format, Ukrainian specialists can now navigate the system more easily, making the process of training, testing, and certification significantly more efficient and user-friendly.
This achievement — the result of a joint effort between WiN Ukraine, URTC, and supported by SSM — reflects a shared commitment to excellence and the development of well-trained, well-informed professionals in the field of radiological safety.
