Employees of the Zaporizhzhia NPP were nominated for the title of “Arms Control Person(s) of the Year”

Every year, the Arms Control Association nominates individuals and groups for the title of “Arms Control Person(s) of the Year”.

This year, ZNPP personnel were nominated for their heroic efforts to support nuclear and radiation safety at the nuclear plant in the conditions of enormous difficulties caused by the russian military occupation and in the conditions of ongoing shelling of the plant.

Nominees for the honorary title are recognized for significant efforts to promote effective arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament, maintaining nuclear and radiation security, and raising awareness of the threats posed by weapons of mass destruction.

We understand that this nomination is of little consolation as the people of Ukraine are suffering hardships and losses caused by the invasion, but we hope that the nomination will further highlight the important efforts of the people who maintain and operate the ZNPP and encourage them to persevere. Thank you for your contribution to a safer world,” the organizers of the award emphasized.

The winner will be determined based on the results of online voting, which began on December 8, 2022 and will continue until January 12, 2023.

The results will be announced the next day – January 13.
